ROBERT IHLANG POST 537  NEW LONDON, MN

COMMANDER: KAREN WELANDER

Text Box: Greetings Fellow Legionnaires!
At our next Legion meeting, we will be nominating officers for the next year.  If anyone is interested, please contact me. Even though I have volunteered for another year as your commander (if you will have me), anyone else may nominate someone for any position or nominate themselves to run for any position. This is an open election, so feel free to do any nominating.
Why not celebrate Valentine’s Day by taking your sweetheart to the Legion. Our chefs have prepared a special menu to compliment our regular menu for this special occasion. Be sure to make reservations so you will be guaranteed a meal at a reasonable time.
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped out with the 7th District Mid-Winter Conference. There are many different things that the Legion does for our communities that we don’t know about. I am sure everyone who attended picked up some new information on what the Legion does.
On Saturday, February 25th, students at the Alexandria Technical  College will be holding a memorial scholarship fundraiser for Ryane Clark at the Legion. There will be a chicken dinner, silent auction and bake sale starting at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 3:00 p.m. in the dining room. At 4:00 p.m. a special meat raffle will be held in the lounge. Then from 7:30-11:30 p.m. the Gig Noonan Band will perform in the lounge. So mark your calendars!
The Legion Birthday Party will be held on Monday, March 5th. Social hour will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the dinner and program to follow at 7:00 p.m. Please plan on attending. This year we will be honoring the Korean Veterans. Let’s have a good turnout to honor those brave souls for their service at that time of conflict. Please sign up in the lounge no later than Friday, March 2nd or you may call the legion at 354-2284.
We have had a fast renewal of memberships. Thank you to all who have already renewed.  Be on the watch for potential members to add to our rolls.  For those of you who haven’t paid, please do so as soon as possible.
I hope to see all of you soon at the post meeting and in the dining room and lounge.
Remember to wear red on Friday to support your United States Military.
Please remember to pray for our men and women who are now serving our great nation.

Respectfully submitted, Karen Welander, Commander
